Information sheet: Downton Abbey

What is it about?

Downton Abbey is an enormous and luxurious castle where the aristocratic Crawley families used to live during the reign of George V. Located in London, England, its surroundings are full of amazing and striking gardens and trees. If you watch the TV series with the name of the place but would like to enjoy the experience of living in this 1900´s castle, this is your opportunity!

Facilities

Downton Abbey is not a simple and an ordinary castle. It was redecorated two months ago but the essence of it would always be the same. Visitors will have the chance to choose between twenty five different rooms, from the one when the Earl used to sleep, to the ones prepared for servants. Furthermore, visitors will be able to check the library which  was never changed. Moreover, it has a huge, fully equipped kitchen where the servants used to devote most of their time, and a living room, specially prepared for meetings.

Entertainment

There are activities for everyone at Downton Abbey which includes: filming a short spot wearing the same clothes the aristocrats wore in the Edwardian Times, visit every single corner of the castle with a tourist guide and also enjoy horse-riding on the surroundings and city centre.

How to write an information sheet

What makes a good leaflet?

In order to make a good leaflet, it is extremely important to use factual information so as to help an audience who may need help, instruction and/or information on a specific area. Furthermore, the information sheet must be catchy, well organised, it may include titles and headings, and the purpose should be clear.

Introduction

To begin with, it is necessary to present topic and show the purpose of the leaflet. In addition, the writer may include a general idea of what will be developed in the other paragraphs.

Titles and headings

Titles and headings might be included in an information sheet but these are not compulsory. They may help to organise the text but they must be precise. The audience should easily understand why the writer decided to use that title for that paragraph.

Text

A successful information sheet presents the important points in a clear and organised way. Every single idea must be developed with the intention of giving information, instruction or help to the audience.

Lettering

The letter font, size and color are very important when writing and information sheet. A correct leaflet requieres an adequate font and color which should be selected after taking into consideration the seriousness of the topic.

Layout

Presentation and organisation are two of the most important issues in order to catch the reader´s attention. The writer should respect lettering and the use of titles and headings along the leaflet in order to make it tidy and catchy.

Before you write

Before writing an information sheet, it is necessary to search for precise and reliable infromation which could be included in the leaflet and think about the presentation, organization and different titles and headings. Moreover, the purpose of the information sheet should be decided.

Making notes and writing

After finding the information which would be used in the information sheet, the wrtiter could prepare a plan. Then, he/she would be able to divide and organise ideas under the headings he had chosen before. If the writer takes into account these important details, writing the information sheet would not be a difficult task.

PLE: Entorno Personal de Aprendizaje

En mi PLE incluyo todas las acciones, sitios, situaciones que luego de analizarlas, considero que me llevan a aprender. Primero anoté las que consideraba importantes alrededor de "APRENDO" y luego para terminar siendo mas específico, agregué otros conceptos, que dividí en tres categorías: Verbos, Internet y Ambientes. A partir de este PLE, la intención es poder optimizar los recursos y el tiempo de búsqueda.
